A Judaization plan targeting a historical mosque in Haifa
The endowment committee in Haifa revealed the intention of Israeli private companies to implement a dangerous plan approved in 1985, which threatens the small mosque, the historic White Mosque in Haifa, by establishing a building on its land and adjacent to it. The building will include 27 floors of housing, hotels and offices, in addition to building 258 housing units in a residential building that will be called the Museum Building.
It is noteworthy that the land on which the mosque is built is endowment land, and that the land around the mosque will be transferred to the state and the project will be built on it.
The committee objected to the plan due to its fear of the impact of any building or construction work under and above the ground on the mosque, given its sensitivity and historical and architectural importance.
It is noteworthy that last week, the committee organized a protest in front of the Haifa municipality, calling for the scheme be cancelled.
