219 administrative detention orders against Palestinian prisoners during last October

The Israeli occupation authorities issued 219 administrative detention orders against a number of Palestinian prisoners during last October.

In a statement, the Prisoners and Ex-Prisoners Affairs commission said that among those orders, 84 new administrative orders and 135 renewal orders.

The commission indicated that the Israeli occupation implements administrative detention against Palestinians by order of the military commanders of the occupied Palestinian territories, and on the recommendation of the Israeli intelligence service, the Shin Bet.

The statement stated that the duration of the administrative order is a maximum of six months, subject to renewal several times, and in many cases, the administrative order is renewed against the prisoner in the last moments of the end of his/her previous detention.

The commission added that the prison administration does not stop evading agreements to release administrative prisoners, especially those who went on hunger strikes to end their suffering.

The occupation is currently holding about 850 administrative detainees inside its prisons, most of whom are in Ofer and Negev prisons, including two female prisoners, Shurooq Al-Badan and Bushra Al-Taweel.

Administrative detention is detention without a specific charge and without trial carried out by the occupation against the various groups and sects of the Palestinian people, to put the largest possible number of Palestinian citizens in prisons and detention centers, under the pretext of the so-called secret file and evidence, so that the detainee and his/her lawyer are not allowed to view them.
