Israeli occupation threatens to demolish 38 homes in the village of Al Walaja, west of Bethlehem
The head of the village council of the village of Al-Walaja in Bethlehem, Khader Al-Araj, said that 38 houses in the Jweizeh neighborhood are threatened with demolition, after being notified by the occupation authorities three years ago on the pretext of not having a permit.
Al-Araj stated that the Israeli occupation forces notified 50 houses in the neighborhood with demolition in 2018, then a petition was submitted to 38 of them, and the decision was frozen for three years.
Al-Araj indicated that the twenty-sixth of this month is the final court date to decide on the demolition decision, noting that the demolition will affect more than half of the Jweizeh neighborhood and threaten more than 40 others with demolition.
Al-Araj pointed out that the occupation aims to rob the land and empty it of its original inhabitants forcibly, and the practices of the occupation authorities in the village of Al-Walaja are very dangerous and require urgent intervention to stop them."
Al-Araj added that the council is working to enhance the presence of the case in the media and follow it up legally, in addition to arranging a sit-in for homeowners at the court's door on the date of its convening.
Al-Araj called on human rights institutions to work seriously and immediately to stop the demolition decision, and to stand in the face of the attempts to displace the residents of the village and rob their lands.
